Probably my second favorite boss theme from Double Dealing Character and one that I really learned to like more and more the more I listened to it. When I saw that Nad had done a cover, I gave it an immediate listen and found a spot that had potential for looping.
It worked out much better than expected and, with a little cross fade, it blends together surprisingly well even though it's also easy to tell where it is.
And, I'm probably in the minority on this one, but I actually like Yatsuhashi more than Benben.

Id call this one of the most vanilla pairings that the game would expect the player to choose as both Batu and Emilio are from Alcaland and Emilio did say hed prefer to pair with Batu in an earlier route. But it is still one of the better ones as the two remain focused on their duty and build a strong foundation through facing battle together.
Gameplay-wise, Batu does do a good job of covering for Emilios weaknesses, so overall this is a pretty good pairing in both ways.

The various Marisa titles created by Double Cluster have been fairly memetic in the Touhou fandom since their creation. As I already did a Lets Play of Mega Mari, I figured that it would be interesting to return to the even more difficult Super Marisa World, which is full of Super Mario references in its bosses.
However, I still have PTSD from playing through the game years ago, so I convinced three members of the Bakashop Quartet to do a blind race of the game with some assistance from me.
Will there be a winner? Or will there just be survivors?
Or will there be any survivors?
And yes, Yosh rage quit.

Fortunately we can quickly switch back to Viese to finish up what we needed on her side since its not like were under a time limit until that girl dies or anything.
In any case, with Cure Jar in hand, were able to save the girls life and receive a startling revelation in the process: There are two Azoths!
Now who else have we seen with a talking sword in the area? Then again, weve seen the scene but the characters havent, so we cant warn them ahead of time.
Thanks to Imperial activity, Noin stays behind while our new party member, Fee, takes up the mantle of being our guide to the Altena Church.

Definitely a far less creepy scenario with Nagino talking to a potential new Papa than when she was with Roger. In fact, this one becomes so incredibly wholesome that it makes the ending only hit that much harder...
Gameplay-wise, Gennojo is quite capable of covering for Naginos few weaknesses, so this ends up being one of the best pairings on both fronts.

As a dungeon, the Lighthouse isnt that bad but, as a Lighthouse, I simply have to ask who the heck designed this place?!
Either way, we eventually make our way up to the top to bust Max and a couple of NPCs out of prison, and he shows his gratitude by never remembering Felts name.
But the escape shouldnt be too much of a problem, right?
Nope. We get a direct encounter with Chaos but, unlike most games where running into someone in his position would result in an unwinnable battle, he actually doesnt fight us directly.
Now all we need is a way out of the city.

The main problem is that Doom Island can fly and we cant.
Luckily all we need is some Power Oil to complete its upgrade into an airship.
So of course theres none available at Epro, the town that sells it, and we have to get it the hard way.
Even worse if you forget to head over to the landslide area and get the key from Hedge.
One more mini-dungeon later, and were there!

Well, even though she would be a valuable asset, M.D. decides to NOT let Jerin join our party and we begin our trek towards the next town... after the next revisit back to the Old Cave to take on the next level.
With the goodies from that obtained, we cross the desert to the village of Suringal and learn that we need the aid of an elf to cross the Lost Woods- er- Forest. Now where could be possibly find an elf who can help us...?

The one specific pairing outlined in the manual, even though Mihee does NOT want to be a part of it as Gennojo has to practically drag her to the castle.
Overall, the pairing shares the same strengths and weaknesses in a few aspects but they provide some entertaining banter to keep the run fairly lighthearted.
Hmm, could there be some shipping about to happen?
