It can be simple to tune coherence receivers and does not require air or other commercial variable capacitors. Metal mass can be used for the counterpoise. A simple piece of tin on a movable mount can be turned into a fine tuning capacitor.

This is a low level receiver and is only driving one LED, yet with some small changes it can drive 10's of LED's.
