Hello there Dudes & Dudesses :-) Answering a call from my community I have made a bulk storage system that first fills a double chest of an item and then stores additional items in shulkerboxes in chests underneath the first one. The system consist of slices that is one wide and tileable.

UPSIDE: Simple to understand and relatively easy to build. Easy acces to items in a chest but also deep storage in shulker boxes. One wide tileable.

For the the more technical oriented and lag-worried amongst you that play on multiplayer servers I have included a lag optimized slice in the World Download.

DOWNSIDE: Uses a lot of shulker boxes. This should however be less of an obstacle in 1.17 where shulkers have become farmable.
