Silent Hill 4: The Room takes one apartment, one locked door, one mysterious hole in the bathroom, and turns βhomeβ into one of the least safe places in the entire franchise. WOW π€© I love this fourth installment (shocker, I know) and the experimental choices pulled me in even harder! Room 302 starts as the familiar place we keep returning to, but then it changes, rots, haunts, and slowly turns against Henry until comfort becomes part of the horror. Henry Townshend didn't stand out to me as much as some previous Silent Hill protagonists but that almost feels intentional. He comes across like the unlucky person standing in for anyone who could've moved into that apartment and become trapped inside Walter Sullivan's nightmare. Haunted houses, haunted towns, haunted hospitals, we know those. A haunted apartment with portals, neighbors, peepholes, Eileen, Wish House, the Order, and all those threads tying back to previous games felt different in the best way. Even with the 21 Sacraments ending humbling me, I walked away loving how much this game tried to do. It feels like a perfect blend of old Silent Hill and strange new ideas and I can already tell this is one I'll want to revisit. Reminder to self: nowhere is safe (: Thanks for watching and I hope yall enjoy π
