The strangest moment in Silence of the Lambs is the shot of Lt Boyle's body displayed high up on the outside of Hannibal Lecter's cage. Realistically Lecter wouldn't have the time to create this display during his escape, nor would he be likely to risk it. This is strange in an otherwise mostly realistic film, but it's also psychologically powerful on account of its symbolism.
