Epilogue: this ended up being totally useless and eventually died.
I did some mild circuit bending to the MDP 40 and processed the output with mixer feedback (Alesis 1622) and a passive ring modulator. I think the MDP 40 is one of the best sounding low end digital drum machines, but circuit bending it was sort of a waste of time. Recorded 2008.
