Finished collab entry for Constellions April Showers to May Flowers Event!

The dark clouds cemented to the sky, pouring viscous rain onto Monsoon’s already drenched body. He was the god of weather but no matter what he did storms followed him and he was banished from cities for excessive damage. He felt worthless. After days of hardship trying to control the storms, it seemed the rain was a symbol that all hope must be lost. He hung his head in sorrow, his sobs drowned out by the rain. His paws grasped at his face, trying to somehow scrape away the sadness that consumed him. He closed his eyes and all he could feel was the rain, that seemed a million tiny pebbles chipping away at him. Hope was all he needed to be able to try to go on, to fix what was broken. Monsoon began to rub at his eyes, to dry what he couldn't tell was rain or tears-when he was suddenly frozen in place by a brilliant light. Looking up ever so slowly, he began to see the sun, to feel the warmth, though the rain still pelted down around him.
A shadowed figure hovered in the midst of a circle of light, where the clouds had parted and the rain ceased. His dark wings flapped up and down, his shining mane glittering in the light of the sun. It seemed the very earth felt his presence, the flooded ground sprouting beautiful grass and flowers in the sun's rays. The figure slowly began to descend to the ground, the clouds further parting in his wake.
A lion now stood before Monsoon, towering above him in height, his wingspan making him oddly intimidating contrasting with the smoothness of his fur and expression. The lion showed a light smile and squinted his eyes, tilting his head as he inspected Monsoon’s devastated expression.
“There is no need to cry.” Said the lion at last, folding his wings to his side and lowering his head to speak gently. “The day is beautiful, the grass is green, and nature is alive. You can do anything you want on this day, there is no need to cry.”
Monsoon stared in shock at this creature, a lion on all fours that came to him now on his darkest day. “What am I to do?” He questioned, a glimmer of hope in his tone.
“Try again.” Said the lion. “You will fail again, someday. But now you have learned, now you can change. So now, you try again.”
Monsoon lifted his head to face the lion, eager to believe his words but unsure of the truth. He looked around, the grass was green, small creatures moved everywhere, the sun shined so greatly. He realized how quickly things could go from terrible, to beautiful. He looked back at the lion.
“You can find opportunities everywhere you look. So the important thing is to always be looking. Don’t give up searching, because then you’ll never find anything.”
Monsoon rubbed away the last of his tears, and opened his eyes again to see the lion taking flight back into the sky. He was determined now to take his advice, as he sat in the meadow, looking at nature all around him.
