Let's review each episode of the TV show The Venture Bros, the greatest adult animated series ever made!

Showdown at Cremation Creek Part 2 finishes off Season 2. Following from the last episode, Phantom Limb attacks Monarch's wedding, scattering the guests, kidnapping Doctor Fiance, and, most unforgivably, ordering the traitorous Klaus and Iggy Pop to kill David Bowie. Who it turns out was the secret leader of the Guild of Calamitous Intent, thus Phantom Limb seizes power, and, just to be petty, decides to kill Monarch and everyone in his lair right in front of Doctor Fiance. But Brock's not having any of that as he takes control of Monarch's forces and shows just how badly this butterfly can sting! While the first part was a lot of talking, this part is ALL ACTION! Starting with the opening battle where Phantom Limb and his forces take down the Ventures and Monarch. Thus, encouraged by Brock, Monarch decides to be competent for once and sends his minions to attack the Guild's wasp drones! Which goes about as well as you'd expect, but does a bit better with Brock leading the charge! And yeah, him in Monarch henchman gear joins him crying and him inflating as one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Seriously, a couple more and I could make trading cards of these moments. The problem with an action-based episode is it's hard to critique without just telling you every single thing that happens, so this might end up one of the shorter videos. But don't let that make you think this isn't simultaneously awesome and hilarious! I love the revelation that David Bowie is in charge of one of the most powerful and theatrical organizations on Earth, though they say it like we didn't suspect he already was. I like Hank insisting he join the fight, going so far as to disguise himself and work with Brock, though he's just as much help as you'd expect. I like that Monarch's henchmen discover that they're equipped with fully functional wings, with Gary especially sour he was kept out of the loop. And I like how Orpheus and team are inadvertently the people who save the day! And while the previous episode seemed to hint that Dean would play an important part in things, he instead goes on his own magical adventure completely disconnected from everything else that just seems to begin completely out of nowhere. Yeah, I was expecting to find that the ring he put on was cursed or laced with hallucinogens, but I think the implication is that he just snapped under pressure and this is his Sam from Brazil escape from reality. But he destroys the Monarch's cocoon lair again, so that's something I guess. And in the end, Phantom Limb is defeated but flees to fight another day, while Monarch and Doctor Fiance are reunited and the latter officially becomes Doctor Mrs The Monarch. Happy endings for everybody. For some quite literally. While the quality of this season was pretty hit or miss, this is a fantastic episode for the season to go out on, and reinvigorates my interest in featuring the future seasons. Oh, and David Bowie is actually not dead. Which, good. He has at least another ten years left in him.
