Should we dumb down science when we communicate it to the general public?
I was delighted to talk about this and other topics with our friendly neighborhood astrophysicist, Dr. Becky! Dr. Becky, aka Rebecca Smethurst, is a British astrophysicist, author, popular YouTuber, and Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society at the University of Oxford.
In 2020, she was awarded the Caroline Herschel Prize Lectureship by the Royal Astronomical Society and the 2020 Mary Somerville Medal and Prize by the Institute of Physics. In 2022, she was awarded the Royal Astronomical Society's Winton Prize "for research by a postdoctoral fellow in astronomy whose career has shown the most promising development".
