With the announcement that Bluepoint Games is shutting down there's been heightened scrutiny placed on Hermen Hulst, the CEO of the Studio Business Group. Hermen has been the head of PlayStation Studios since 2019, and VP of Worldwide Studios since 2011. For most of the PlayStation 5 cycle we've seen questionable decisions as Sony continues chasing the live service dollar. And on this path they've left behind a number of cancelled games and closed down studios. Is it time for SIE to move on? Should someone else take the position? Or is there a reason why Hermen is still here? Is he actually delivering what the company (and shareholders) want? Would he high-five me if I prompted him to? These are the REAL questions. And I don't have all the answers I'm afraid.
