Introduced in the early 1960s, the Polaroid 440 Photoelectric Shutter was designed to provide older Polaroid-Land camera models with automatic shutter speed control. It uses a unique and ingenious electro-pneumatic mechanism to adjust the shutter speed according to the electrical output of a photocell.
