My Book Review of the 1988 novel Shop! or A Store is Born by British commedian Jasper Carrott.
The Beehive department store on Kensington High Street, London is a relic from the victorian era and as such has few customers and makes even less profit. Local gangsters eye the building as a very valuable piece of real estate and, when the owner dies, attempt to take ownership.
Arriving from America the long-lost heir to the company will have to walk the fine line of it's various rules of ownership and fend off those that want him out of the way.
This is Carrott's only full-length novel, he is more famous for the hit single Funky Moped and a string of hit TV shows including Carrott's Commercial Breakdown and the Detectives.
