Houston police are investigating a shooting that may have stemmed from a robbery attempt after officers were dispatched around 7:48 p.m. on Aug. 3, 2026, to the area of Tierwester and Corder. Investigators said a 19-year-old man and his 15-year-old brother were inside a gray Honda Civic that ended up in a ditch after the shooting. The brothers had reportedly met a group of young males at a nearby park before leaving and later encountering them again at the intersection. Police said the suspects exited their vehicle and opened fire into the victims' car, striking the 19-year-old, who was transported by Houston Fire Department crews to a hospital in critical condition. The 15-year-old was not injured and is cooperating with investigators. Surveillance video reportedly shows four young Black male suspects running down Corder Street, with one seen carrying a handgun. HPD's Southeast Division is leading the investigation.
