In this video I demonstrate how I create a fashion portrait on location where I take you through my considerations for angles, posing, depth of field, and (natural) lighting. We’ll talk about lens choice, moving around the scene for different perspectives and even how to use sunlight creatively.
I found a gorgeous little hill filled with ferns that was perfect for this on location fashion shoot that I had in my head.
What’s a ‘fashion portrait’ you may ask?
To me, a fashion portrait includes professional hair and makeup, stylized wardrobe, emotive posing, and creative lighting. This can be subtle (as seen in this video) or you can even go over the top / avant garde. It all depends on the goals of the shoot.
💡 Lighting:
All the shots were using natural light!
