It happened. It finally happened. After Soft Resetting (SRing) for over 6 months long ago in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen for GameBoy Advance, hatching many eggs in those same games, hatching eggs in Diamond, hatching eggs in both White and White 2... it's taken 3 Generations, but I finally have what I sought after many years ago thanks to Pokemon X: Shiny Charmander.
I can't believe it. And it was happening again, too. (ITKEEPSHAPPENING)
Over 700 eggs with the updated Masuda Method in XY, and having the Shiny Charm too, which may or may not affect Masuda Method in XY... I was beginning to get worried.
I stockpile my eggs and save as I hatch them. I was on the last Box of the run. I even bought PokeBank again so I could have more space for eggs. After a while, hatching does things to you, even in this day & age. It used to be worse. You'd tilt your GBA/DS up, down, to the side, upside down, anything to try to "make" it happen. Holding buttons, closing and opening the system, sitting the game down and going away and coming back after the egg hatches... Just silly things to break the monotony and give yourself "luck."
I've never hatched a shiny when doing any of that, until now. On the 2nd egg of those 5, I closed my eyes as it hatched and jokingly said in my head, "Please be shiny... please be shiny..."
Then I opened my eyes and couldn't believe them. It looked ever so slightly different. I must be seeing things, unless it was finally over. I opened the menu, went inside, and checked it. It was much clearer against a background that wasn't orange & yellow.
I finally had it. My own Shiny Charmander.
I wish I could've done more for this video. I don't have the movie making tools I used to, in fact the one I have now is awful. I wanted to do for the rest of the games that I did for FireRed, but I just don't have the time for that anymore. I start college again on the 18th. But I'm not going to stop playing Pokemon.
But this one is down. I told myself and my friends if I ever "retired" I'd want to at least get this one, Shiny Charmander. And I finally did.
I'm not quitting yet, though. I just don't have the time I used to.
What a relief.
