JOSEPH
It's very important. You cant tell anyone what I'm going to tell you.
ATEH
What could possibly be so important that you need to tell me.
JOSEPH
Just listen.
ATEH
Usually people tell important things to important people. I don't think I'm that important.
JOSEPH
No, it's very important and it's about something you I think you know about.
ATEH
Money?
JOSEPH
God no! Could you be serious for once? Please for me?
ATEH
I'm trying right now!
JOSEPH
OK, you know how the Elite Research Corporation is looking for a certain stone for their energy project?
ATEH
Joseph stop.
JOSEPH
I think I found someone who knows where it is.
ATEH
Stop talking about it.
JOSEPH
So I was thinking--
ATEH
Stop Joseph! They can hear everything you say. In these times it's best to keep your mouth shut even if you know something you shouldn't. In that case you shouldn't be opening your mouth at all!
JOSEPH
I know. I have eighteen point seven seconds to speak before they take me.
ATEH
No. Stop.
JOSEPH
I found who has the one stone. One of those rare loners has it. One of the assassins. I'm telling you this because when they take me, you need to find it, take it and keep it from getting into the wrong hands. I need you to find him. Once they kill me they will come after you. I want you to run away out of this wasteland. Die free. Not in the hands of a corrupt democracy that we have now.ATEH
Yes I know where he is. He has been heading west for about a week now.
JOSEPH

MAN
Out of the six million people living in my state, I'm the one who cant take in the toxic fumes outside.
MAN (CONT'D)
I would like to remind you this is not a interrogation or a trial. It's hard to emulate someone of your stand point. I just need to know the truth from you and your fate will not be for me to decide.
MAN
You know who I am. A man greatly feared in the underworld. The CEO and founder of The Elite Research Corporation. From what I've heard from you and your friend.
He stops a recording device and sets it on the table.
MAN (CONT'D)
You know who has the stone. In times like these. Ignorance is upon us everywhere. You see with that stone, with the power it gives us. We can not only control but create. If you knew we were listening, why would you speak out?
JOSEPH
If I remained invisible. The truth of the stone would stay hidden.
MAN
Why do you justify your transgression?
The man pulls out his pistol and lays his hand on the table pointing the barrel at Joseph.
MAN (CONT'D)
Let's not play games here as for my patience will soon come to an end. I will not let what is most precious to me be held in the presents of a loner.
JOSEPH
Assassin.
The mans facial expression turns.
JOSEPH (CONT'D)
He's an assassin.
MAN
So you know him? Do you? (Sighs) You wouldn't mind showing us where he is now would you?
JOSEPH
I don't know him, and I don't know where he is.
MAN
Oh. From what I've recently heard, he is heading west?
The man rewinds the tape recorder and plays back what Joseph said earlier.
MAN (CONT'D)
I'm going to say this one more time and I hope this gets clear to you because I don't have any hesitation to blow your brains out right here, right now.
MAN (CONT'D)
You are one who anticipates the end of the world. You believe there is no turning back from this? You believe this corporation and myself have destroyed this world.
JOSEPH
Yes.
MAN
You see with that stone I can transform it all, I'll pay you what ever you want to find the assassin. Negotiation is always an option with me.
MAN
Why are you smiling?
JOSEPH
Because soon I know this will all end. Sooner or later in this life or the next. I know what I do now will ripple through out eternity. The choices I make, the actions I choose to take. It will be historically inevitable.
MAN
The stone god damn it!
MAN (CONT'D)
I'll admit this is a small world, I've done terrible things to get ahead, but it's MY world! Without that stone, that one stone... it wont be complete.
JOSEPH
That's a real shame. I pity you for that.
