In December of 1984, A. K. Dewdney first described a fun little programming exercise: a simulation of sharks and fishes in a toroidal world called Wa-Tor. I've implemented this for fun a couple of times over the years, on platforms as diverse as my old Atari 400, a VAX 11/750, and now, multicore Intel boxes. This is the output from a simple implementation I did in Python. Enjoy.
