I was intrigued by youtube.com/watch?v=KJe9H6qS82I so I decided to write my own implementation. This doesn't use any fancy GPU hardware: it's implemented using the fftw Fast Fourier transform package, and achieved about three frames per second (each one, stepping about 8 steps between frames). It's not perfect, but it seems to have the major features of the other implementation. Stay tuned for the code on brainwagon.org
