Why another Shadow of the Beast video. My prime intention was to update that older video ( youtu.be/FQQVlwltUvQ ) with a new one, hopefully in better quality.
There's little doubt that the Amiga original is the definitive version. Shadow of the Beast and Psygnosis are almost synonymous with the Amiga, but the MD port was my first experience with it, some Christmas long ago.
Having played the ports which are generally regarded as "best", namely PC Engine and FM Towns, I think the MD does a better job in retaining some of the melancholy atmosphere of the original.
In the video there's also clips from the Japanese MD version, which had some notable differences, plus clips from Pyron's Enhanced Colours hack ( youtu.be/NtSTmSS5Ufs ) which intended to make the MD visually closer to the Amiga.
