In this Photo Deconstruction I share my approach to creating a dramatic monochromatic beauty image using 4 lights. I break down each light's purpose, and how I used them to create depth and drama.

💡Lighting (4)
1.Profoto D2 with Westcott Optical Spot + 150mm lens
2. Hair/Separation Light: Medium umbrella with diffusion, used overhead to create subtle light on the subject’s shoulders and clavicles.
3. Background Light: Profoto B10+ with no modifier, but equipped with an ND gel to reduce light power, creating a subtle glow behind the subject for separation.
4. Fill Light: Profoto B10+ with a medium umbrella and diffusion, softened with a red gel to bring out details in the shadows and prevent harsh contrasts.
🖌 Post Processing
1. White Balance Adjustment: Warmed up the overall tone and added a bit of magenta to correct a greenish tint in the original image.
2. Color Tweaks: Made subtle adjustments to enhance reds and unify skin tones, ensuring consistent saturation across the face and highlights.
3. Skin Cleanup: Smoothed out texture and addressed highlights, especially because the hard light source (optical spot) emphasized texture and contrast on the skin.
4. Skin Tone Unification: Ensured that all areas of skin, including highlights on the cheeks and forehead, matched in tone and saturation for a cohesive look.
5. Final Touches: Minimal changes were made overall, as the image was strong straight out of the camera, but small adjustments helped perfect the final result.
