From 1973, two kids help an old Japanese man (children's book author/illustrator, Taro Yashima) get his dragon kite in the air. So delightfully carefree. A lesson about cooperation, about erasing racial lines, about just not giving up no matter what the obstacles. In so many ways, this seems like a lifetime ago.
According to a posting on @mstatz's upload of this from a few years ago (bit.ly/34Gk5Cv), Glenn Conner Johnson wrote, produced, and directed this film clip. Not sure who the boys were nor if the music is by Joe Raposo (Glenn thought it might be "a cue from Capitol records library").
It's not all pretty, but to appreciate the timelessness and beauty of the children's books they left behind, read the life stories of Taro and his wife, Mitsu Yashima, at the links below.
