Happy Father's Day, kids! A virtual hug for all the Dads, Fathers, Step-Fathers, and father figures in our lives, both here and gone. You are loved, you are appreciated, you are remembered, and you matter so much more than you'll ever know (heart emoji) Lost my own Dad 12 years ago now, he was 72. What I wouldn't give for a bus ride with him today. Here's a cleaner version of the 1976 film (Season 8 Premiere, Ep 0926) of the father and daughter going on a bus ride. Very relaxing guitar background music as they cruise through the neighbourhood and pass King Sal's Meat Market (Ribs $1.19/lb, Veal Cutlets $1.98/lb), Fruiteria (Oranges 10 for 89 cents), a gas station (Getty? 61 cents a gallon), and a movie theatre (showing Jack Nicholson in "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest"), among other things.
Also linked, the remake from 20 years later in 1995. The bus route was updated from Local to Broadway, the soundtrack is much funkier, and the father and daughter were upgraded from white to black ;-) Relax, it's just a joke, settle down. Filmed in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City, some of the places they pass include the Park Slope Barber, Regina's Bakery, Al's Toyland ("Our Business Is Childs Play-Toys", not the snappiest slogan I've ever heard, lol!), Little Things (The Park Slope Emporium), Apple Tree fruit and veggie store (Oranges 3 for $1, Honeydew Melons 29 cents), Tarzian Hardware, a mural of people on old-fashioned bicycles, and firemen returning from a fire.
