Battle Realms is a real-time strategy game by Crave Entertainment and Ubisoft that was released 2001. The game revolves around 4 clans--Dragon, Serpent, Lotus, and Wolf--each with their own strengths and weaknesses, and their own set of heroes called zen masters. All units originally start as peasants, whose primary responsibility is to gather resources and build. These peasants can be then trained multiple times in different training facilities, allowing it to become stronger and develop special abilities called battle gears. Although the game was well received, it was unable to gain much popularity, overshadowed by other RTS games of its time, particularly Warcraft 3.
