The Zu DWX Has Serious Flaws… But Should You Care?
The Zu Audio DWX is one of the most polarizing speakers I’ve ever reviewed. It breaks nearly every rule I normally value — messy phase cancellation in the presence region, cabinet resonance, uneven frequency response, and heavy placement dependency.
And yet… these speakers managed to do something my more “correct” and linear speakers couldn’t: they transported me right back to the electric energy of a Stephen Wilson Jr. concert at the Fort Worth Stockyards.
This isn’t a defense of flawed design. It’s an honest exploration of why these speakers can still create such a powerful emotional connection for the right listener — even with all their warts.
