In this video we take a nice hand wheel from a John Deere lawn tractor and make a sensitive jig borer style quill feed handle for the milling machine. We inspect and measure the internal spline or serration and machine the steel adapter. We use a material called Cerrobend or Woods metal which is a low temperature melting Bismuth metal alloy to make a male impression of the serration for measuring. We also drag out the old Ellis dividing head and do some old school indexing.
