All the story cutscenes in the SB3: Utage story modes. It had taken me so long to finish these, I actually lost a lot of my footage for this compilation and had to outright remake some of these scenes.
Looking back on these, there's some of these lines I'd translate a tad differently now, but I think it's fine. If you've ever been a creator, then you'll understand that you always look back at your old work and have ways to improve it. But this marks the end of my time with SB3: Utage. I was really big into Sengoku Basara when SB3 came out as Samurai Heroes, so it always killed me I never got to properly experience this. I pretty much got to now, even if I had to do all the leg work of making it understandable to a non-native audience myself. Hopefully someone else who always wanted to see this game in English can enjoy these videos. I did pull my hair out trying to translate some of this dialogue, due to it being pretty complicated at time and me already not being the most fluent of translators lol.
But it was fun to write for these characters in the cool scenes. When he's not referencing something obscure that I have to stop and look up, Matsunaga's the most fun to translate for. I spent a lot of time to write him as a calm, menacing gentleman. The dialogue's not 1 for 1, because it can't be for a lot of scenes either due to it just not making sense in English without tons of context or because characters say their lines too quickly or (more commonly) too slowly, so I'll add or remove an adjective or two to adjust the length of the lines. I make it a point to try and have the subtitles be read at about the same speed as the character is talking. Although, people read at different speeds, so I can only make it match up for me. But hopefully that made it feel more natural to you guys.
Anyways, that's enough rambling. I do want to keep translating stuff so I'll be finding more projects to work on in the future. Hopefully the next ones won't take me as long as this lol. If I do anything like this with SB4, then it would just be with the characters I like the most. Deeeefinitely not the whole game.
