We start in 1598, with Ieyasu witnessing Hideyoshi on his death bed. Hideyoshi asks Ieyasu to look after his son Hideyori and Mitsunari, Kiyomasa, and Masanori. When he leaves the room, he says that if the land goes back into chaos then he won't be able to fulfill his promise and will have to unite the country himself. This happens.

Mitsunari and the others start arguing about what to do about Ieyasu as he grows in power. The Date and the Uesugi were the first to start warring again, so Ieyasu moves to attack the Uesugi first. Then Mitsunari starts raising his own army and Sakon attacks Ieyasu in a cutscene.

Masanori visits Ieyasu and talks about having a brawl with Mitsunari to hash things out, but not actually killing each other when its all over. Ieyasu says he can't promise anything, but enjoyed his visit nonetheless. However, when Ieyasu starts to move towards Mitsunari, Masanori attacks him when he passes through his territory. After the battle, it's reported that Masanori is dead. Literally, the game gives you the same notification it does when an important character normally dies.

His death prompts Kiyomasa to join Mitsunari in his fight against Ieyasu. Later, they lead an attack on Ieyasu but Masanori suddenly shows up alive to help. Hideaki, who was going to betray, is so moved by their bonds of friendship he doesn't defect. Ieyasu still wins (because we're playing as him) so they get defeated, along with the Sanada at Ueda. They all rejoin up and head to Osaka for a final defense.

After Ieyasu wins, he begs for Hideyori to submit to the Tokugawa like he did for Hideyoshi at Komaki-Nagakute. Hideyori abandons the Toyotomi name and makes Mitsunari the head of the clan now. He convinces Mitsunari to leave the country and continue the clan elsewhere, since it's the only way they can all leave alive and not come to blows in the future. Ieyasu sees them off in a final cutscene.

Like the Toyotomi story, there's not much to this one. It's basically just "Ieyasu wins again, but faster and nicer".
