After the death of Nero in 68 AD, Galba took control of the Roman Empire, but his reign was short-lived, as he was assassinated on the fifteenth of January in the year 69. His death would set off a power struggle in that year known as The Year of the Four Emperors, ultimately ending when Vespasian took over after Vitellius and Otho. During the events of Galba's death, most of the Praetorian Guard abandoned him, all except one man, Sempronius Densus, who defended the old emperor alone, facing the soldiers armed only with a dagger.
