Actin is able to control bifurcated and kinematically redundant robotic systems. This unique ability allows coordinated lifts using multiple robots. In a welding use-case example, multiple robots each pick an assembly part and then position and orient the parts together to form an unfused assembly. A multi-robot system controlled with Actin can then position and orient this unfused assembly as a single part. The unfused assembly is then presented to the welding robot in the bifurcation. The welds are completed with Actin maintaining the weld-pool orientation in the flat position throughout the entire weld path by partially constraining the weld nozzle horizontal to gravity while allowing free rotation about the Z axes of the weld path. The remaining degrees of freedom in the welding robot are simultaneously utilized with the additional redundant degrees of freedom of the fixture robots to allow tool-path localization while complying to tool and execution offsets that maintain the proper work and lead angles during welding.
