Alexander Selkirk was the original real life basis for Robinson Crusoe. While on his island, he wrote a poem which Dr. Chard, Jane Austen's piano teacher, set to music. Here our Contributor, Tim Marriott, gives a rendition - probably the first in more than 200 years.
