When Sega Rally 2 came out for the PC back in 1999 as a port of the Dreamcast version, it was missing a lot of cars that the original Japanese Dreamcast version had. The Escort in particular simply had its slot replaced with 'Kerolla WRC', which appears to be a parody of Sgt. Frog (ケロロ軍曹) turned into a vehicle. Its basename remains 'escort' and still has the same sounds and wheels. I originally started a project to port the Escort to the PC version back in 2017 and subsequently released a very basic conversion of the Dreamcast model to Driving Passion, a site of mine that closed in late 2017. However, I always wanted to do more than that.
Now as a follow up to this project 3 years later, I was finally able to rip the actual textures from Sega Rally 2 Deluxe! The original Arcade version of the game contains far better detailed models and even the texture sizes are bigger. Only the Deluxe version has Escort's legendary Repsol livery from the 1997 season. Luckily, the Dreamcast and PC models' textures are based on the Arcade ones, so I was able to modify the textures resulting in a 1:1 interpretation of how the Repsol livery would've looked as a secondary paintjob on both Dreamcast and PC.
There are still many problems that can be seen, such as the lack of windows ingame. Another problem is that I can't directly use Kerolla's slot, because the shadow model has been modified. I will keep trying, but if I'm not able to fix these problems, I will release it very soon as it is currently.
