Sedona to Phoenix: Complete Scenic Drive Through the Arizona Desert 4K @AdventureEveryDay

In this video we make the complete epic scenic drive from Sedona to Phoenix in Arizona. We decided to skip the standard I-17 highway drive and take the more scenic route from Sedona to Phoenix.

Our scenic drive begins in the red rocks of Sedona and head south on Red Rock Scenic Road, then after a few minutes on the highway we head down Route 260 in the mountains toward Payson. This scenic path winds through the breathtaking landscapes of the Coconino and Tonto National Forests, offering a refreshing change of pace with lots of green and incredible mountain views.

As we transition onto Route 87 and descend toward the Valley, the scenery transform into the classic Sonoran Desert. We’ll see the horizon fill with iconic, giant saguaro cacti as we make our way into the heart of downtown Phoenix.

A hidden gem near Kanab, Utah. We begin our journey driving through the towering red and vermilion cliffs of Johnson Canyon, eventually stopping to capture breathtaking aerial drone views of the nearby Cottonwood Canyon landscapes just off the road. The adventure truly begins as the pavement ends. We transition onto the rugged Glendale Bench Road, a dirt path that cuts through Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. The condition of the unpaved road was great, anyone should be able to drive it as long it its not wet. Our drive begins near Pagosa Springs, Colorado, as we head east on U.S. Route 160. This route takes us deep into the San Juan Mountains, climbing toward the summit of Wolf Creek Pass and crossing the Continental Divide and driving through multiple mountain tunnels before descending into the town of South Fork. Wolf Creek Pass is legendary for its beauty, but its equally known for being a scary and dangerous drive. The steep grades and sharp switchbacks demand total focus, a reality we were reminded of when we saw an overturned semi-truck along the way. To fully capture the scale of this landscape, we stop at scenic overlooks for a closer look and include drone footage that reveals the pass from a whole new perspective. This drive features snowy alpine mountains, towering red mountains, deep canyons and outstanding green forests as we make our way along its multiple San Juan mountain passes where the road exceeds 10,000 feet in elevation. The Uncompahgre Gorge section is a stunning highlight on this drive where Million Dollar Highway hugs the edge of a cliff with a drop of hundreds of feet straight down. We finish this drive up in the town of Montrose, Colorado. This drive was filmed in early June, and was filmed and uploaded in 8K.
