I collect the Pianta 5 Shine by pressing A only 2 times and using only the Hover Nozzle.
Both A presses are used to get out of the landing pads near the end of the secret area.
The secret area isn’t too hard (besides the aforementioned landing pads), being more about getting the Chucksters to throw you in the right direction than jumping.
The more dangerous part really is getting there, as you can get hit by a Wind Spirit while hovering from the bridge to the mesh, or just fail Yoshi Skip if you’re as bad at it as I am (please don’t use this as a Yoshi Skip guide or something, the Huff/Lektro method is the way to go afaik).

![Box Game 1 – 0x A Presses [Ø]
I collect the Box Game 1 Shine without pressing the A button or using F.L.U.D.D. at all. This is an improvement over my previous strat, which was slightly slower and used the Hover Nozzle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vU48JUn8d4U
Getting to the box game room was half the fun! To get across the canal, I bounce on the pineapple lady to grab the ledge of the hill behind her and dive all the way to the top. But mashing B as fast as possible (i.e. every other frame) isn’t enough this time; the slope is so steep that a single frame is enough to start sliding backwards, losing some precious forward momentum and ultimately making Mario slide off. Instead, I had to progress carefully up the hill, making sure to dive immediately on every landing, and to avoid steeper floor triangles that would hold me back anyway.
The way I crossed the fence was pure luck; I was about to dive, grind to cancel the dive and frame-walk up to the other side, but after grinding I found that Mario just went sliding up into safety without further shenanigans.
Then I finally started the box game. Without the Hover Nozzle, the only way to get onto the crates is to bounce on the Pianta in the room, and there is no way to smash a crate and immediately get onto another. On top of that, two of the crates are too far away to reach with a single bounce, so I had to dive across the other crates to get to them without losing too much time.

![Delfino Airstrip Dilemma – 0x A Presses [S]
I collect the very first Shine in the game without pressing the A button, using only the Spray Nozzle.
This one is pretty simple, no jumping or hovering is really necessary in the first place. I collect the Shine using a dive and a ground pound.

![Mirror Madness! Tilt, Slam, Bam! – 0x A Presses [S]
I collect the Gelato 2 Shine without pressing the A button, using only the Spray Nozzle.
I use Cataquacks to get onto the first mirror and onto the hut near the second mirror. As for the third mirror, it’s easily reached from the cliff area.

Update: This level is now possible without A or F.L.U.D.D. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs5ds5Q1NLM
I collect the Gelato 4 Shine without pressing the A button, using only the Spray Nozzle.
First, I let a Cataquack throw me onto the higher portion of the beach, then I spray the Dune Bud and ground pound under the edge of the trampoline. This triggers a glitch that sends Mario way up into the sky. After falling for over a minute, I land on the trampoline, use first-person mode to turn towards the secret area entrance, and simply dive into it.
Once inside, I simply get 7 red coins on the sand bird, wait for it to fly around the top of the tower, and dive onto the tower to get the 8th red coin. That’s it! … Actually, no, because the Shine is too high to reach hoverless. Luckily, the sand bird dives down to its initial position, so I follow it for another ride around the tower and dive to the Shine.

![Box Game 2 – 0x A Presses [H]
I collect the Box Game 2 Shine without pressing the A button, using only the Hover Nozzle.
When Mario ground pounds a crate, he technically lands before the crate breaks. This sequence of events interrupts the ground pound and puts Mario in a falling state. I use this to quickly hover from one crate to the next.

![Secret of the Village Underside – 2x A Presses [Ø]
I collect the Pianta 5 Shine by pressing the A button only 2 times, without using F.L.U.D.D.
Going straight to the underside isn’t an option without A or the Hover Nozzle, so I head into the village first and flip one of the grates to enter the underside in a more strategic spot. There’s a panel nearby that Mario can hit to cross a gap, but you normally need A to get off of it safely. Well, it turns out that this panel (like all the others) is too close to the mesh, to the point that we could climb up into the mesh if it didn’t have a hitbox. In fact, we can climb up while the panel is crossing the gap, and once we reach the other side, Mario will clip into the mesh and pull himself up on top of it, which is really helpful.
Next, I make my way to a conveniently placed vertical mesh that allows me to dive across a gap that I couldn’t nearly clear otherwise. After some more running around on the mesh, I reach a spot from where I can dive to the secret entrance. Yoshi skip normally requires to hover, but zelpikukirby found a very precise setup to make it work hoverless, which fortunately doesn’t involve jumping, so I use it to enter the secret area.
Inside the secret area, nothing new, we still need an A press to get out of each of the two landing pads near the end.

![Red Coins on the Water – 0x A Presses [H]
I collect the Ricco 6 Shine without pressing the A button, using only the Hover Nozzle.
Seven of the 8 red coins are just above the water and can be surfed into, but the 8th one is in mid-air. A solution to this would be to collect it before riding the Blooper Racer, but the Shine still spawns on the pier, which is unreachable 0x A while surfing. The solution to this is a glitch I discovered while trying to get onto the pier anyway (though I was probably not the first one to find out about it), and documented here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlB55EBZLeA
So I go surfing for the 7 red coins, crash the Blooper Racer, go get the remaining coin with the Hover Nozzle, then simply head back to the pier. But what’s with that “break” at the beginning? Well, I needed to give the Pianta some time to get closer to the tower, otherwise I couldn’t have hovered there.
