A little while after Supernatural ended, my mom offered to watch the show with my sister and I. We never expected that in a million years (mostly because it's so long lol) so of course we agreed. The rewatch has actually helped patch my soul up a lot—at least up until S15, where I've felt more and more dread as it's progressed... But that said, we're a couple episodes from the end, and I remembered the other day that there's no road so far! Like, regardless of where your canon ends. Because the one thing we thought we could count on was still too high a bar, I guess. (My sister and I are stopping at episode 19. My mom is going to watch ep. 20—by herself, because I'm not traumatizing myself AGAIN—just to see what all the outcry is about. Despite being warned. Rip, may she not be destroyed.) I think the Long Road Home documentary was supposed to "stand in" for a recap, but that reallyyy doesn't count. Long story short, S15 doesn't have a road so far, and I wanted one, so I made it! It may be my least favorite season, but it still deserves a wayward recap. Oh, also this edit is made to be watched in place of the "then" on episode 19, Inherit the Earth. I've been working on this for the last couple days, and it turned out to be a really intensive editing process. I'm super proud of the result! :)
The first thing I had to do was recreate the road so far song edit of wayward son, because they have a ton of cuts in the SPN recap version, and the placement of those cuts remain constant every season. After recreating the music they use, I kept studying road-so-fars from other seasons and tried to copy the editing styles used at different parts of the song. Different seasons have slightly different styles, so there were liberties to be taken, but there's also a lot in common with how they do things and I wanted to be consistent with that. So, using the same sorts of transitions in the middle, starting off with a fast-paced montage, using exposition-y quotes patched together from multiple scenes, having speed effects and certain types of shots, doing song ducking under quotes, etc. etc. Basically I focused on a few seasons, then tried to emulate them as best I could, to make a believable recap that feels like it could've been on the show. Then, since there was no Road So Far text (gahhh!) I took a screencap of the S15 "then," photoshopped the text off, and added "The Road So Far" in After Effects, styling it to look as close to their text as possible. Then yay, I was finally done. And I'm really really pleased! What do you think, are we convinced by this? :) Anyways, I'm hoping if anyone else does a rewatch, this can be a happy little addition for them. Thanks for watching!

Sooo, my friend and I had some silly fun challenging each other to a vidding exercise that I hereby dub the i dont even go here challenge 😂 BASICALLY, we both made a 50 second edit to shows that the OTHER one watches but the one editing has NEVER SEEN. I went into this not having watched the series, never having heard a SUMMARY of it, not speaking a word of Korean (we chose foreign shows to keep everything more of a mystery while editing haha) and not knowing who the main characters even were. With a lot of skimming and thinking I actually managed to correctly guess like 95% of the plot haha! Which impressed my friend a lot xD She said the vibes on this edit turned out quite good, though I myself have no way of knowing haha. That said, I am actually quite proud of this from an editing standpoint especially considering the constraints—and it was definitely an interesting challenge!

She had some context about the series to work from because Ive rattled on about the series to her a lot, but she kept incorrectly guessing who most of the characters were which was hilarious. We both took notes on things each other said while editing, which well include in the descriptions here. Sooo, heres some of the things I said while editing that she transcribed!
