What started as a random look at NES games became a discussion of why the graphics were so good but the sound and music were so bad on the Atari 7200 version of Double Dragon, how neither it nor the NES ports really approached the arcade version of the game (and we pull out the Arcade Archives port on Nintendo Switch for good measure), and took a shallow dive into the story of how the video game crash of '83 and an ill-timed Donkey Kong port scuttled Nintendo's plans to release the Famicom under the Atari banner.
And we also played a bunch of other games Sean wasn't so familiar with, but should definitely look into some more.
Our original plan for the livestream got scuttled when Xsplit refused to reauthorize after a major update, so once we got that working we did instead! But it's a fascinating window into how we plan Famicom Dojo videos, why some of them never come to be -- or at least not when we originally think of them -- and lots of plans for the future.
