The life of a sea turtle is not an easy one. They have to avoid being eaten by sharks, eels and other predatorial fish and birds from the time they hatch on land until they are fully grown. Once they are fully grown they still have to avoid being killed by man. Many people hunt see turrtles as a source of food.
Most all species of turtles are endangered. They are illegally hunted for human consumption and the trade of their body parts. Turtle meat and eggs are also a source of food and income for many people around the world. They are also killed for medicine and religious ceremonies.
Tens of thousands of sea turtles are lost this way every year, devastating populations of already endangered greens and hawksbills according to WWF.

Their habitats both marine and the coastal areas where they breed have been adversely affected due to poor management of these areas.
Temperature affects the life of turtles including the sex of their offspring. Warmer temperatures result in less hatchlings and storms destroy nesting grounds decreasing numbers even further.
Climate change and man's mismanagement and pollution of the Earth's natural resources is a significant factor.
