All of our songs have VGM inspiration, and this one to us is inspired by EarthBound. We feel this in the way that EarthBound songs have bittersweet melodies and upbeat, boppy, Beatles-esque instrumentation. Also cute synths. There's also a small reference to the Sim City theme hidden towards the later crescendo of the song. We recorded and produced this song ourselves, and then brought the almost-final mixed stems to the recording studio for mastering! It was so exciting to have our second professionally mastered song.
Acoustic version is also streaming now, and the music vid is coming soon!
We asked the mixing engineer to go for a clear, sweet, warm sound in the master. We're super happy with the way it turned out, and it saved us a ton of time to work on all of our music endeavors.
Sea2Sea has themes of 2. There's 2 releases/videos, and the casing of the song being together with no spaces symbolizes joining together from far away oceans. We come from opposite sides of the country, but both near the ocean. This full band version is the "Pacific" ocean version,, while the acoustic version is "Atlantic"! I aimed to capture those vibes in the album artwork/thumbnails. Same with the video(s)! Always happy to capture golden hour and the ocean provides a reliably beautiful backdrop haha. It was a healing and happy experience to film this, as we both hadn't been to the ocean in a long time. We feel this song and video carries a happysad (smiles and tears), positive vibe and we love to perform it.
Oh another fun thing is that we used a steady-cam for the first time for some of the scenes, so the walking and dancing scenes are super smooth.
