Scrapbooking Ideas for Busy Pattered Paper. In today’s scrapbook process video, I’m creating a scrapbook layout from beginning to end using the bright and colorful Splash of Sparkles Specialty Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! Incorporating ideas for busy patterns into your scrapbooking isn't always easy.
Busy patterned paper can be beautiful — but it can also be intimidating! In this video, I’m sharing some of the ways I keep bold patterns and bright colors from overwhelming a scrapbook layout.
We’ll talk about how to:
• Ground bright and busy patterned paper with deeper coordinating colors
• Work with photos that contain colors you might not normally choose for a scrapbook layout
• Pull grounding colors from the photo and repeat them throughout the page so everything feels intentional
• Mix several bright patterns without letting them compete with your photos
• Use small areas of cardstock to give your eye a place to rest
• Look at your dies as basic shapes and find completely new ways to use them
One of my favorite little details on this layout is the nail polish bottle. I created it using Christmas ornament dies — a skinny ornament became the top of the bottle and a rounded ornament became the bottom. It’s a fun reminder that our dies don’t always have to be used for the purpose printed on the package!
