Film Score and More | Scenes Re-Scored: Spider-Man Far From Home Final Swing/Where No One Goes - HTTYD 2 (HD) @FilmScoreandMore | Uploaded March 2020 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
Here is yet another superhero movie scene I’ve re-scored with music from HTTYD. This time, Spider-Man’s glide suit in Spider-Man: Far From Home is the clear inspiration for the scene. And I figured I’d include a clip of the original Where No One Goes scene from HTTYD 2 just so the reason is obvious for anyone less familiar with it.
I’m glad the final swing is back, but I’m somehow not 100% on this one. I felt very mixed on the movie in general. Some elements I liked quite a lot and some I was very unimpressed by. By the time it came to this scene, I guess I was mostly checked out. I do like the new suit and the return of Michael Giacchino’s Spider-Man theme, though I think the tempo of the original may have been a little too slow, at least compared to this high-energy re-score. I also really like the reprise of the cue “Academic Decommitment” included towards the end. Plus, there’s that Marvel’s Spider-Man (PS4) reference.
Funnily enough, I’ve never been crazy about Jónsi’s track, either. I know a lot of people love it and I know it’s in the movie because he and Dean DeBlois are friends, but it’s always had the opposite of the intended effect on me and it’s taken out me out of the scene. That being said, I’ve warmed up to it a bit more, and I think this track does still work for this scene. It adds to the energy and the joy of the scene and it contributes to that feeling of swinging and gliding.

I do not own the rights to this scene, the characters, the music, etc. All belongs to Sony, Marvel (?), Dreamworks, and maybe Jónsi’s and/or John Powell. I’m not exactly sure how the copyright works but I can assure you I am not claiming to own anything. No copyright infringement intended.
