One of the most violent crashes of the NHRA season unfolded Saturday at Pacific Raceways when Joey Grose's Pro Stock Camaro rolled over during final qualifying for the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals.

The Lodi, California, driver was attempting to bump his way into the field when his Camaro got out of shape, struck the wall, spun across the racing surface, flipped onto its roof and slammed the opposite wall before a flash fire erupted.

Fortunately, Grose climbed from the overturned car with assistance from the NHRA Safety Safari. He was alert, talking with emergency personnel and even joking before being transported to a Seattle-area hospital as a precaution.
