🏁 There was a time when Memorial Day in drag racing meant one place: Moose's State Capitol Dragway outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Long before modern mega-events and packed racing calendars, the NHRA Cajun Nationals became a gathering place where drag racing legends showed up to settle scores and establish pecking orders.

Shirley Muldowney. Don Prudhomme. Raymond Beadle. Lee Shepherd.

At this event, fans saw a young Mark Oswald continue building what would become a legendary Top Fuel career, defeating Shirley Muldowney in the final round.

This is another chapter in our Cajun Nationals Week celebration, revisiting the races and racers that made Memorial Day weekends feel like a pilgrimage for drag racing fans.
