Hey all! So after antagonizing this tech support scam call center for the better part of a morning, this beaut answered.
About the infamous tech support scam: "Technical support specialists" will call and tell you they have been receiving errors and warnings on their Microsoft support servers, and that hackers have infected your computer. Usually they will tell you to open up your Event Viewer (eventvwr) and show you the "error and warning" logs, as if somehow they are all viruses and trojans. This is a typical scare tactic used by scammers for duping you into thinking your machine is infected. The scammers will then tell you they can install a Microsoft security system on your computer and all your problems will be magically fixed! All for the low price of hundreds of dollars! Fake virus or error warning popup ads on websites may also direct you to call a telephone number to "fix" your computer. Another tactic from the scammers. Absolute crap. If you ever get a cold call from someone claiming to be from technical support or a "Microsoft Certified Technician", swear at them heavily, then hang up. Then send the number my way :) Unfortunately this number was down as of yesterday, no doubt they've moved on to another number for scamming purposes...bastards. I'll find em again...
