Hey everyone! It's officially the five-year anniversary of when I realized my old Total Chaos-inspired song "Say Goodbye", back when Total Chaos was still a Doom mod!
But, since the remake came out just last year, and realizing this anniversary was coming up, I decided to completely remake this song from the ground up. Not just the vocals (although those REALLY needed to be updated), but also the instrumentation, and a lot of the production elements!

Say Goodbye was a track included on Through These Rough Years, the album I put out when I graduated from high school (exclusively on YouTube; I never released it on streaming). Even though none of the other songs in the album were inspired by video games, I decided to include it anyways since the subject matter of the song was similar to the themes of the rest of the album.
Out of all the songs in that old album, Say Goodbye was one of the only ones I felt was worth completely remaking; I was sure that if I could redo it with better vocals, instrumentation, and mixing, it'd be a genuinely good song. I can't really say that for most of the rest of that album, sadly.
And thankfully, this project ended up being worth it! I'm really happy with the finished song (and my remade lyric video too; both the song and video are huge improvements over the originals). I even did some screams during the breakdown, like in the old song, and the mix turned out really good thanks to my friend from the AudioDiscovery YouTube channel, who once again mixed it for me!
Oh, and as per usual, the rhythm and clean guitar parts were recorded by me on my actual guitar, and the guitar solo was done with MIDI, using the VST plugin Ample Metal Eclipse.
(The harmonizing lead guitar fills during the second verse were done for real on my guitar though, since they're pretty simple.)
