Sargeras never went mad and the new cosmological book finally proves that. New lore completely changed the warcraft universe and the planes are ranked in terms of energy levels. By the new info titans are low energy beings and the demons are the highest energy ones. Low energy beings can't do much without a power source, high energy beings can do whatever they want. Guess what the low energy titans did, they hijacked world souls - massive power sources in order to manifest themselves. Sargeras realized this is a futile taks and he decided to instead hijack the highest energy plane in existence the demons in order to unleash chaos upon everyone and to break this imposed system. Sargeras is still a titan, not some crazy guy that was once noble and this new info pretty much changes the entire storyline. So let's look at the new book and everything we just learned.
