In this video, Sarah welcomes her sixth baby in a peaceful water freebirth, surrounded by her husband and children. This is Sarah’s second freebirth, following a hospital transfer with her fifth baby—a beautiful testament to her trust in the birth process.

“My 6th labor started exactly the same as my previous 2. On a Wednesday night at 39wks and 1 day (all my babies have had " due dates" on a Tuesday) beginning with some bloody show and periodic contractions. And just like my previous 2 labors, this one carried on until the weekend. The contractions were sporadic and ranging in intensity, baby patiently waiting for soccer practices to be done, husband to be home, and for mama to be well rested. Things took off shortly after 10 or 11 that Friday night after my last bite of pizza I was eating in bed. It was an instant shift of no contractions, to boom this one feels very overwhelming. I got up and ran a bath because I was immediately shaking and felt unable to cope with the new intensity. After a few contractions and calming down I was able to snuggle up and catch an hour or 2 of sleep. I then woke up around 2 a.m. and knew it was go time, getting on my birth ball and then waking husband to add hot water to the partially filled birthing pool. I told my husband to call my mom, knowing I wanted her there but not too early. Before I knew it, I was next to the tub wondering how I'd ever climb in and asked my husband to wake the 3 oldest kids. I was probably in the tub for only a few contractions, then baby started to crown, my eyes shut tight, barely registering the kids appearing and my mom arriving. My water hadn't broken yet and the head was delivered en caul, my bags bursting shortly before my baby shot the rest of the way out into the water. The temperature of the water was so perfect, we just snuggled there for awhile, my calmest and quietest transitioning baby by far, soon discovered to be a boy. Born at 4:14 on Saturday morning, September 7th, our sweet Oswald James.
It never gets old, that feeling of absolute awe of my body and the pure joy of welcoming another sweet soul to our family.”
