"I was ready for motherhood. Fall of 2023 I fell pregnant and miscarried at 7ish weeks. Free Birth Society came into my realm like clockwork right around this time. It was a wildly faceted time of sadness and learning and growth, but my confidence in bearing life was unwavering.
Weeks later, I was pregnant again with my rainbow baby. I had the most easy-going wild pregnancy and didn’t take shit from anyone about my decision to freebirth (my partner's family is full of nurses).
I had a 3-day-long labour of love, sweat, and tears. From ceremony-esc rituals, to taking a poop on my partner, there was magic, there was mess, and there was everything in between. I was with my two favorite humans, my partner and my mom! I’m 1 of 4, and my mom had 2 home births back in the day - so having her with me was a no-brainer.
I’ll never forget claiming “this is my variation of normal” on that third day, wondering when the heck this baby would come. June 24, 2024 my girl came through the ring of fire. No pushing, just existing within this threshold. A moment in time that will live in my soul forever. Birthing her birthed me.
An hour or so later, my placenta came, and an hour or so after that, we burned the cord.
Words fall short for what was truly the most grounded and magical experience ever."
