October 21, 2009. Test of San Clemente's Whelen sirens which are part of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) community alert siren system.
Sirens shown in this video are SC-17 up by the microwave tower and SC-16 by the water tank shown in the distance. The guy I am talking to with the radio is Tony, a member of a local amateur radio organization who is volunteering to monitor and report on the operation and coverage of the sirens.
This particular Whelen supposedly may have a blown speaker as a loud hissing/screeching noise could also be heard.
