SAN ANTONIO (November 11, 2021) – The San Antonio Police Department today released footage from an officer-involved shooting that occurred September 12.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., officers were flagged down by a private security guard while handling an accident in the 4500 block of North Loop 1604 West.
The private security guard advised officers that there was a disturbance behind the location that involved several individuals with guns. Three officers went toward the back of the location when they heard gunfire, then saw a silver Mercedes speeding through a crowd of people, and one of the occupants was observed shooting.
Fearing for their safety, two officers fired their weapons at the suspects. The security guard also fired his weapon at the silver Mercedes. The silver Mercedes fled the location and has not been located.
A 23-year-old female who was sitting in her vehicle at the location was struck once by gunfire. She was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Anyone with information about the shooting or the suspects is urged to call the San Antonio Police Department's homicide unit at 210-207-7635.
As with all officer involved shootings, the District Attorney’s Office is investigating the incident.
Background information on the Department’s updated Body Worn Camera Procedure: The San Antonio Police Department updated its Body Worn Camera Department Procedure in December 2020 to release portions of videos and 911 calls related to critical incidents involving officer-involved shootings or use of force resulting in death of an individual. The release of information is balanced with other sound public policy objectives including privacy and due process. Videos related to domestic violence will not be released unless the Police Chief believes that the release will serve a law enforcement purpose.
