SAN ANTONIO (April 1, 2022) – The San Antonio Police Department today released footage from an officer-involved shooting that occurred March 14, 2022, in an embankment in the area of Culebra and I-10.

On March 14, at approximately 3:45 p.m., three officers assigned to the SAPD Street Crimes Unit attempted to contact a wanted suspect in the 200 block of Carter St. The officers were aware that the suspect, identified as Kevin Johnson, was wanted on multiple warrants.

Johnson initially fled on his bicycle when officers first attempted to contact him. He then got off his bicycle and fled on foot as officers chased him. While running, Johnson pulled out a gun before pointing it at the pursuing officers. The three officers fired multiple rounds at the suspect striking him. The suspect died on the scene.

As with all officer involved shootings, the District Attorney’s Office is investigating the incident.
