The Samsung QN95C is a step up from last years QN95B with slight improvements in picture quality and the ability to disable dynamic tone mapping for more accurate HDR images. Picture quality is very good and the HDR 10 performance offers exceptional brightness, colour reproduction and volume. Still, it is a shame there is no Dolby Vision support. This MiniLED 4K Flagship offers excellent bright room images but is held back by some aggressive blooming suppression that does limit the dynamic range of specular highlights to reduce clouding and haloing effects. Video processing is also good, if not quite as polished as the competition from Sony and LG. Gaming support offers up to four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 (48Gbps) ports with 4K/144Hz for PC gaming and 4K/120Hz console gaming, ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), eARC and FreeSync Premium Pro VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) as well as the Game Bar Menu and input lag that measures 9.3ms at 4K/60. Overall, the Samsung QN95C offers a polished performance with most sources for bright room viewing wrapped in a nice design with good build quality. It lacks the one-connect box and individual pixel response dynamic range capabilities of the S95C QD-OLED, but as a living room workhorse in bright conditions and with a mix of sources, it produces the goods. However, it is far too expensive for the technology and performance on offer.

*The good*
Excellent peak brightness and full-screen brightness
Is accurate with SDR and HDR content in Filmmaker Mode
Four HDMI 2.1 inputs at 48Gbps
Excellent gaming credentials
Decent sound quality

*The not so good*
No Dolby Vision support
Aggressive blooming suppression reduces overall dynamic range capabilities
Dynamic tone mapping can over-brighten the image, leave it set to Static
Some light DSE and banding seen
Some back-door processing is being applied
